Our pastor, John H. Weller, grew up in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. The Church of the Nazarene became his church when as a senior in high school he was invited to see a movie at the Hollywood church. The movie’s message reminded him of his need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It was at this time in his life that he again felt the call of God upon his life; the same call he had felt as a young altar boy in the Methodist church.
Pastor John graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with a B.A. in both Religion and Communications. He received his Masters of Divinity with a Concentration in Christian Education from the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri.
Pastor John has been in full-time pastoral ministry for 28 years. He loves people and helping them take the next step in their spiritual journey. He is excited about the ministry God has brought him to in Hollywood, Florida area. He is looking forward to walking along side the people of the Hollywood Church of the Nazarene as God directs.
He retired from the United States Air Force Reserves where after 27 years. During his time, he deployed and served many years as Wing Chaplain. He has been blessed by this extension to his pastoral ministry.
He and his wife, Darlene, have been happily married for 34 years and friends for longer. They were blessed with three children Jacquie, Jalaine and Johnathan. They have two grandsons Brandon and Bradley.
In his free time you will find him totally involved with some kind of technology, reading or working on a home improvement project.
Our pastor’s wife, J. Darlene Weller, grew up in Miramar, Florida. She began attending the Hollywood Church of the Nazarene as an early teen through the church’s Bus Ministry. It was through the church youth ministry program that she came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and began her spiritual journey.
She was blessed to be able to attend Trevecca Nazarene University for a year. It was during her time at Trevecca that her friendship with John deepened and they became engaged. They have enjoyed 34 years of marriage together, she feels very blessed to have such a loving and caring husband.
Darlene has been an active supporter and help to John’s pastoral ministry. She helps wherever she is needed from administrative and secretarial duties to teaching children, youth and adult classes or small groups. She is looking forward to seeing and learning what God’s plan will be for her as their ministry brings them back to the Hollywood, Florida area.
When time allows she enjoys doing a little gardening, crafting and reading. She especially likes spending time with her grandsons and family.
Salome Singh was being born in a Christian home and being taught at an early age the importance of prayer. As a teenager, she spent many hours reading and reliving the adventures of brave missionaries who gave their lives for Christ. This passion for the lost has allowed her to serve in both the Youth and Children Ministry at her local Church in Guyana, South America. Being a trained teacher who graduated from Cyril Potter College of Education in 2009, she is able to counsel and encourage teens who are struggling to find their identities in Christ.
Salome is also enthusiastic about missions and outreach; Over the years she has been fortunate to have been on numerous mission trips. She describes serving Christ as an awesome adventure that is always exciting. “You never really know what He has waiting for you around the next corner and I have learnt to trust Him even when I can’t see Him.”
Another one of her passions is serving Christ through music; At an early age she broke the barriers of gender stereotyping and prove to the young girls on her District that it was okay for a girl to worship the Lord through music even if its playing the drums. Today, she supports her husband Daniel as worship leader at Hollywood Nazarene.
Salome is currently enrolled at South Florida Bible College and Theological Seminary pursing her degree in Pastoral Ministry. She believes that God has great things ahead for her generation and prays that as He continues to call men and women to the mission field they would come running, surrendering everything.
Daniel Singh was born in a small rural village on the coastal plains of Guyana, South America. At the tender age of nine he was led to the Lord by his Sunday School teacher who told him about a, “Heavenly Father that loved him.” This encounter with the Lord was a pivotal point that changed the course of his life. The joy and happiness that came from his relationship with Christ diminished the violence, poverty, and hopelessness that surrounded him as a teenager. His love for the Lord was contagious and through him, his entire family came to know and accepted Christ as their personal Savior.
Since then Daniel has always been actively involved in his local church, over the years he served the Lord as Sunday School Superintendent, Youth Director, Musician, and Worship Leader. In 2014, he received the high honor of service by accepting the call of God and served as a Local Preacher at Bloomfield Nazarene Church.
In 2015, he and his wife Salome Singh, accepted the call to Ministry and migrated to the United States of America to serve as worship leaders. It was here that God opened the doors to South Florida Bible College and Theological Seminary; presently the couple is pursuing degrees in Pastoral Ministry. While attending seminary they both serve as worship leaders at Hollywood Nazarene. This ministry opportunity is a blessing for the couple since it has allowed them to express their love for Christ through worship and service.
